Marist High School kicks off its ninth annual day of giving, Champagnat Day, Thursday, March 26. The day honors the legacy of the school’s founder, Marcellin Champagnat. The proceeds raised will help Marist students continue and excel in their Catholic education.
“We could have just called it Marist Day or something like that, but because of his vision of what he wanted to do to help others, I think that’s the biggest part of that day,” says Principal Meg Dunneback.
The school hopes for great contributions from the school community, with goals of raising $400,000 and having 1800 individual donors.
“It goes to scholarship stuff for our students coming here that maybe can’t afford to come here, or would never come here if they couldn’t,” says Dunneback.
Seniors are encouraged to pledge to donate $5 over the next five years. By donating $5 or more, students are automatically entered into a raffle, with prizes differing by grade level.
Seniors: Free Prom Ticket and pin to wear at graduation
Juniors: Choice of parking spot next year
Freshmen and Sophomores: $200 gift certificate to Marist book store
“No amount is too small,” says Dunneback.
