Molly Haynes, Advanced Broadcaster
I am a senior now at Marist in Advanced Broadcasting after taking Broadcasting 1 and an officer in the Broadcasting Club. At the MHS Media Awards, I was awarded Best Music Video and Best Host. I am a state qualifier on the tennis team and do track and many other clubs here as well. In my free time I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, and riding my bike to the lake. I am also a big fan of Chicago sports, especially the White Sox and the Bears. In the coming years I plan on majoring in elementary education or physical education.
Melanie Koss, Broadcasting 1
I’m a sophomore at Marist, currently taking Broadcasting 1. The clubs I have joined at Marist since freshman year are Broadcasting, Cooking, Art, and Chess Club. I also joined Student Ambassadors this year. I was on the freshman lacrosse team last year and plan to play on the JV team this year. I was a midfield player and I’ve been playing for around two years. When I’m not in lacrosse season, I play club lacrosse at Lakeshore two times a week.
Eddie Dougherty, Sports Editor/Advanced Broadcaster
I am a senior here at Marist High School and I am currently in my second year of both broadcasting and journalism. I won the best podcast award last year for Broadcasting 1. I am proud to be the Sports Editor, as well as publish news articles here, on our award-winning news site. I currently play football here at Marist. I am the president of Student Council, a Student Ambassador, and a member of Broadcasting Club, Investment Club, and MHS Media Press Club. Outside of school I love to play golf and watch football. I am a big Bears fan and watch them every Sunday. I want to attend college next year and want to major in the sports media field. My dream is to work in sports after college.
Sommer Bell, Broadcasting 1
I am currently taking Broadcasting 1 and in the Broadcasting Club as a freshman at Marist. I am excited to take this class because I want to be a news anchor when I’m older. In my free time I like to play volleyball, run track, watch movies and hang out with my friends. My favorite types of movies are romance, comedy and dramas. My goal while taking this class is to become comfortable talking to an audience and to talk slower and more clearly.
