Coming up on today’s show… MHS Behind the Curtain. We have an in-depth interview with Broadcasting and Journalism teacher Ms. Carlson talking about her journey from TV news anchor …to teaching at Marist. In our M-H-S Tip of the day, we have help for you with wrapping your Christmas presents.
Our student spotlight takes a look at some interesting videos put together in our broadcasting classes. We’ll show you what’s going on around the school today… after most students and faculty go home for the day. Plus, it’s time for winter sports here at Marist. Our analysts are talking about that and more in the M-H-S Sports Corner.

Kevin Curley, Managing Editor
I am a senior in my third year of journalism at Marist. I serve as a Student Ambassador Officer, NHS Board Member, Broadcasting Club Officer, and am involved with Marist Youth. I also perform with the Marist Theatre Guild and in Mother McAuley High School’s theatre program. Additionally, I am the Managing Editor for MHS Media and couldn’t be more thrilled! Outside of school, I love seeing shows downtown, traveling to my lake house, and taking long naps. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in journalism or marketing.
Molly Haynes, Advanced Broadcaster
I am a senior now at Marist in Advanced Broadcasting after taking Broadcasting 1 and an officer in the Broadcasting Club. At the MHS Media Awards, I was awarded Best Music Video and Best Host. I am a state qualifier on the tennis team and do track and many other clubs here as well. In my free time I enjoy reading, doing puzzles, and riding my bike to the lake. I am also a big fan of Chicago sports, especially the White Sox and the Bears. In the coming years I plan on majoring in elementary education or physical education.
Patrick Ready, Advanced Broadcasting Lab
I am currently a senior at Marist. I have been involved with Marist broadcasting for 3 years, taking Broadcasting 1 and 2, as well as the Advanced Lab course. Last year, I also worked as one of the analysts in the sports segment of our MHS Studio Magazine show. Besides broadcasting, here at Marist I play on the Varsity Golf team, and am in the Investment Club. Outside of school, I like to play golf, watch sports, and hangout with friends. After Marist, I plan on attending either UW Madison or Indiana University majoring in business.
Phillip Bartolini, Broadcasting 2
I’m a junior at Marist and have been involved in Broadcasting for a few years in the class and club. Freshman year I took Broadcasting 1 and now junior year I am taking Broadcasting 2. I also contribute regularly to MHS Studio Magazine with the sports segment through Broadcasting Club. Some of the things I enjoy doing outside of school are golfing, watching baseball, and hanging out with friends. I am very interested in studying business in college, but I have not decided where to attend yet.

I am a senior at Marist and this is my third year taking the broadcasting class and I have been a member of the club since my freshman year. I previously served as Broadcast Club President and as an officer. I am also involved in 1 Book 1 Marist, Model UN, Art Club, Marist Youth, National Honors Society, and crew for the school musicals. In my free time I like to go out with my friends, bake, garden, and go to the beach. In the future I hope to be either a high school history teacher or a lawyer.
Gianna Bonafilia, Broadcasting 2
I am a senior year at Marist High School. I have taken Broadcasting 1 and now I’m in Broadcasting 2 and Journalism 1. I am also involved in clubs and sports here at Marist, including cross country and track. Out of school, I enjoy hanging out with friends and traveling. After high school, I plan to go to college and continue to study journalism.
Adam Reiff, Broadcasting 2
Hey! I am a senior here at Marist. I am in broadcasting 2! I play hockey and tennis, and my favorite thing to do is to hangout with my friends and girlfriend. My overall goal is to get as much money off as possible for college and hockey.
