It’s that time of the year again: chocolate sellers roaming the halls with those blue and white boxes, and there are a fewthings you should know about who is selling them, what types of chocolate they are selling, and why they are selling.
The Marist Band has started their yearly chocolate fundraiser for their tour. Members of the band will be selling chocolate bars for the next few months. They will be selling a variety of flavors like Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Caramel, W.F. Crisp, Almond, and Wafer.
These chocolate bars may sound tasty, but they also serve a purpose. Purchasing a chocolate bar will go to support the band’s tour to Ireland.
The tour to Ireland will have the band marching in the Dublin St. Patty’s Day Parade and Kilkenny Castle. They will tour the country of Ireland, visit Northern Ireland, see the Titanic Museum, Blarney Castle, Clis of Moher, and Kilkenny Castle.
Band Senior, Pauline O. ‘23, tells us what it’s like to go to Ireland for her final year at Marist: “I’m really glad we are able to go on this trip…it’s cool we get to end it on a bang. I don’t know if it’ll be better than Disney… I’m excited to travel with the band.”
The Marist Band usually tours every year but a 2 year hiatus from COVID and one tour last year, she described the lost time as “sad.” She has informed us that she has “sold 40 boxes so far” from “going to baseball games around my area.”
According to her 60 boxes are required to fully fundraise the tour for her.
So make sure you secure a few dollar bills throughout your day, and when you see the white and blue box, just know it will go towards a good cause.
