MHS Media walked away with four awards at the annual Scholastic Press Association of Chicago (SPAC) conference at Northwestern’s Medill School Thursday, March 21.
The awards were as follows:
-Excellence in New Publication going to the MHS Media staff for the news website
-Excellence for News Story: Ethan Froylan for his coverage of “A Night of Honor, Glory and Fame”
-Superior for Editorial: Ethan Froylan for his editorial on gun control
-Excellence for Feature: Trinity Eadie for her story about AI in Schools
“It was exciting to see our website get recognition,” said Vincent Quiroz.
In addition to the awards, the students participated in seminars presented by working journalists and college professors.
“It was also interesting to see different methods to improve our articles,” said Trinity Eadie.
