Marist has a state champion and three other placers for wrestling. Eight of the 14 varsity wrestlers competed in the state competition at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign over the weekend. Four came home with medals.
Will Denny took first place, Michael Esteban and Ricky Ericksen took second, and Donavon Allen took fourth. All four are juniors.
