There are many pets, from parrots, to snakes, to dogs, but there is one pet that stands above the rest. That pet is a cat.
An MHS Media poll found that 14% of Marist students have a pet cat at home while 60% at least know someone who owns a cat. There is also the 26% of Marist students who do not own a cat or know someone who does.
According to polling results, there are many reasons as to why these specific students do not have a cat, such as them being irresponsible or that they just simply don’t want one, but this will be my attempt at persuading that 26% of students to get a cat.
One reason that cats are better than any other pet in the world — or, well, the United States for that matter — is that they are cleaner than any other. They clean themselves, know how to use a litter box to make it easy to clean up after them, and they don’t make a mess.
Another reason that cats are better that they are easier to take care of. Dogs have to be taken outside everyday in order for them to use the bathroom while with cats you simply place a litter box in a random corner of a room for them to use. I would recommend cleaning it every two to three days since they eat quite a bit and use the bathroom a lot.
Speaking of eating, all you have to do to feed a cat is fill a bowl with water and another with their food and set it down near them. Every single time the bowl is set down my cats come running to eat almost immediately.
They also sleep most of the time so they don’t require much attention. One could pet them while they sleep. It’s up to the individual on how they deal with that. I myself simply let them be.
My third and final reason as to why cats are better than any other pet is because they’re simply cute animals. Looking at a cat would give anyone the urge to at least baby-talk them. I personally have never done this but know many people who do and, upon asking them, they tell me they just get the urge to.
The decision of what pet someone wants is completely up to them, but I would recommend taking a minute to consider adopting a cat before bringing any other pet home.
