For the viewer who appreciates romance, thrills and surprises, this movie has them all.
The Housemaid starring Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Sklenar, and Amanda Seyfried came out in theaters December 19, 2025. Millie Calloway (Sydney Sweeney), Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar), and Nina Winchester (Amanda Seyfried) are the three main characters. It starts off by showing how happily married Nina and Andrew appear to be, but the truth is revealed later. Nina decides she wants to hire a live-in housemaid to help her. She finds Millie and hires her soon after their interview. When Millie arrives for the interview, she notices how the Winchester house was beautiful, clean, and mirrors their picture-perfect lives. Millie moves into the room in the attic and then, everything takes a turn for the worse.
The behavior of all the characters is extremely unpredictable. I thought that certain characters were good or bad but in the end, they were the exact opposite. The behavior was so engaging to watch because I love a good plot twist and this movie has several.
The casting was perfect. Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and Brandon Sklenar fit their roles so well. I believe that Sweeney is an amazing actress despite getting a lot of hate in real life. She portrays emotion in such a natural way, it makes you forget you’re watching a movie.
There is also great chemistry between the characters.
The unexpected plot twists made the movie a million times better. Every time I thought one thing was going to happen, the opposite occurred. This movie kept me on the edge of my seat and even included an unexpected romance.
The Winchester house is a gated mansion located in New York. The landscaper, Enzo Accardi (Michele Morrone) and Nina are secretly good friends. Inside the house is spacious, well designed, and luxurious. Every room is decorated so nicely, except the attic room. I fell in love with the house and landscaping. It was so beautiful, it distracted me from anything bad happening inside.
As a Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey lover, I thought the soundtrack was perfect. Cinnamon Girl by Lana Del Rey plays as Millie and Andrew went to a play together, and it couldn’t have been more fitting. The lyrics,“There’s things I want to say to you but I’ll just let you live” was very appropriate for the way Millie felt about Andrew at the time. At the end of the movie, we hear I Did Something Bad by Taylor Swift, which was perfect to wrap up the story. I think the best song played was Bad As The Rest by Jessie Murph. Her voice added more emotion to the scene and again, the lyrics accurately reflect the characters’ feelings.
Overall, I absolutely loved this movie. It is so entertaining, dramatic, and fun to watch. I would rate this movie 5 out of 5 RedHawks.
