Students and faculty will compete and participate in activities Friday, October 10 in the main gym at the annual homecoming pep rally.
The event leads into the game Friday night against St. Ignatius and the junior-senior dance Saturday. The rally will begin with acknowledging fall sports and clubs, then there will be games including a mattress race and tug-of-war.
“We just want the kids to be excited for homecoming and keep school spirit up. We’ve had great school spirit so far this year,” said Coach Rob Topps, Student Council Moderator.
Student council is running the pep rally this year and students will hear from new President Nick Collias for the first time.
For the past week students have been putting in a dollar to vote for teachers to dance at the pep rally. Teachers with the most votes will go out and dance with a member of the dance team.
Students had to sign up to participate in the tug-of-war, which typically pits grade levels against each other.
They will also see a new race that hasn’t been done before at a Marist pep rally. Students will race using mattresses to slide across the gym floor.
“I’m excited to see the reaction,” said George Kottaras, the secretary of student council.
The theme for Friday will be color wars, with freshmen wearing white, sophomores wearing gray, juniors wearing red, and seniors wearing black.
