Marist High School will be hosting Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday, October 2. Parents of students from all grade levels are welcome to speak with teachers to ensure their child’s learning.
Teachers will begin meeting with parents virtually from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. This opportunity gives greater flexibility to parents with potentially busy schedules.
“Parents have wider access to speak and meet with teachers with it being virtual, because if they are at work they can’t make it [to Marist] they can do it on their iPhone, any desktop or laptop device,” said Director of Student Services Mr. Patrick Ryan.
Virtual appointments will be approximately five minutes in length. Afterward, teachers will be given a 90 minute break to eat, and then host in-person conferences beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
“Parents must schedule an appointment whether it’s virtual or in-person prior through the pick-a-time system,” said Ryan.
Appointments will be available to schedule until Monday, September 29 at noon.
The goal of any Marist Parent-Teacher conference is to guarantee the success of all students.
“Our philosophy is…we want to partner with the parents to ensure that their children, their students, can be successful inside and outside of the classroom,” said Ryan.
Conferences allow parents to learn more about their children’s education and understand what class is like for their students.
“It is good for parents to begin relationship building with the teachers and for them to understand their policies in their classroom,” said Ryan. “It is good for them to hear directly from the teacher what the student is doing well, what they have mastered, where the student is struggling, and what they can do differently to improve their grades and demonstrate their learning.”
