This year, Marist High School introduced a new system of graphics to display information about
clubs instead of relying on physical flyers. Marist club moderators started this presentation so that students would
have a more efficient way to learn about meetings.
This presentation is a slide show of dates and other information students need in order to join the
clubs or activities. It is displayed in the lunchroom, at the Point, and on the Marist website.
“I think that more students will see the different clubs, and will be more informed than just
flyers around the school that can be missed or announcements that might not be heard,” said Ms.
Megan Scanlon, who supervises club moderators.
Teachers and staff had the idea to use the tv’s in the cafeteria to display the slide show, since they weren’t being used during lunch.
“If we could get some events publicized earlier, students would be more likely to attend because
they had more notice,” said Scanlon.
It seems to be working. This year the number of students in clubs has significantly increased from last year.
“I think the announcement presentation has had a big impact on the clubs that have met and
have had very high turnouts,” said Scanlon.
Marist is likely still going to use the announcement presentation in the future.
“I like the announcement presentation because I get to see all of the information I need from the
lunchroom,” said junior Ava Enright.
