Marist students and faculty will gather on the newly renovated Main Gym floor to prepare for the Battle of Pulaski, honor some donors, and celebrate the upcoming year Friday, September 5.
“There’s gonna be a number of alums/donors/people who donated to get their names on the court,” said Marist President Mr. Larry Tucker.
The band will lead the student body into the gym and play the iconic Marist Fight Song. After the commotion has settled, Tucker will reveal the alumni names that have been written into the gym flooring.
“I’m going to really talk about three people…Paul Simmons…Coach Garvey…Coach Nolan,” said Tucker.
Each individual served a purpose in the Marist community in several ways and that will all become clear at the rally. After Fr. Tom Hurley blesses the court, the games will commence.
Due to the student council election delay, Coach Robert Topps and Coach Colleen Phelan will speak to the student body. Not long after that, games will commence and laughter will surely be heard among the student body.
“I love when they see the teachers in a different light,” said Marist Principal, Mrs. Meg Dunneback.
Dunneback also has one request.
“I am always down for a dance battle,” said Dunneback.
The pep rally will surely pump up Marist and just in time for the long-awaited Marist vs. Brother Rice football game on Friday night.
“It’s gonna be a tough game. I love the rivalries. It’s gonna be a great atmosphere,” said Tucker. “This is the game you’ll talk about for the rest of your lives…in 20 years talking about it with your kids,” said Tucker.
Tucker hopes Marist gives it their all and if they win, to run on the field and make it known.
“Just win baby, just win,” exclaimed Tucker.
