Most students are rushing to get ready every morning before coming to school. One deciding factor that can make a difference when it comes to risking being tardy is how to style their hair. Marist girls have mixed opinions on the matter.
Hair up:
Putting hair up can help in many ways, like being able to not have to deal with it throughout the day.
“I prefer wearing my hair up during school days because it gets in my face and I usually can’t see my paper if I am looking down on my iPad,” says freshman Zoe Norris.
The same principle applies at bedtime.
“At night I usually put a high bun in my hair just so that it’s not on my face at night and I can sleep comfortably,” says freshman Annamarie Schied.
Although it takes up some time in the morning to put it up, it still keeps it out of the way.
“In the morning if I put my hair up, it usually takes me 10 minutes sometimes just to think about what I want to do,” says Norris.
Something that most girls have to decide is what kind of hairstyle they have if they have their hair up.
“I usually see a lot of girls wearing braids, like a singular braid that looks nice. Another is also just a low ponytail, which is easy to do if you are in a rush in the morning” says freshman Olivia Amelio.
If it needs to be washed, hair also tends to look better up.
“If my hair is greasy, I like to put it in a ponytail or braid so that it looks better,” says Norris
Hair down:
One main reason people prefer this is because it takes less time to style it in the morning, which gives them more time to do other things, or help them save time if they are running late.
“In the morning I usually don’t spend that much time doing my hair,” says Amelio.
“I normally brush my hair in the morning and that’s about it, which saves me time because I usually do other things also,” says Schied.
Some wear their hair down because they think their appearance is better.
“When I put my hair up I don’t think it looks as good as it does down,” says Schied.
“For girls, I usually notice that most girls have their hair long and down, which suits a lot of them,” says Amelio.
If girls leave their hair down, there are options for heat styles, such as crimping, straightening , or curling it.
“I usually only straighten my hair because I prefer my hair like that over curling it, but I like to curl my hair for special events, like homecoming,” says Amelio.
“Most of the time, I straighten my hair because I prefer it on me,” says Schied.
For people that take a shower in the morning, taking care of your hair can also be easy with hair down, which can shorten your routine.
“It also doesn’t take me that long to fix my hair after the shower because I usually just brush it,” says Amelio.
