“There are certain apps that explain problems instead of just telling you the answer. It will walk you through the steps which helps me understand better when I’m at home and can’t ask my teacher for help,” said freshman Olivia Amelio.
Not only does social media help with educational struggles but it can also teach life skills. People can gain tips on managing time and handling finances. There are content creators that specifically focus on certain skills. Cooking creators post step-by-step tutorials on how to cook recipes.
On social media, people create a welcoming space for others to share their feelings and experiences so some don’t have to feel alone and connect with others facing the same challenges. You can use online therapy sessions, follow self-care tips, and join support groups, which could be extremely helpful if you are struggling.
Many social media platforms, such as Instagram and Tiktok, have a variety of motivational and confidence-boosting videos that are very inspiring. These videos are often uplifting messages, personal stories of their success, and challenges others have overcome. As a result, this content gives people a positive mindset.
“When I’m feeling down I can post a video on Tiktok and my friends will give me loads of compliments and hype me up in the comments or I can always watch someone else’s video that has a positive message,” said Amelio.
Many content creators show they are not ashamed of their bodies, promoting body positivity. This is very important to challenge unrealistic beauty standards and remind people of all ages that they are worthy.
“A body positive influencer makes people feel more confident and that they have someone to relate to,” said junior Molly Julian.
