The Marist community is invited to participate in a fundraiser for a Marist family battling ALS on Sunday, April 6, at Gaelic Park. Tickets are now on sale for the fundraiser dubbed, Molly’s Miracle.
Molly Flynn, the mother of two Marist students and three graduates, was recently diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS), which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells.
“There will be lots of silent auction items… tons of raffle baskets. We also have what’s called a Bullet Raffle. There are four big prizes and tickets are five dollars each,” said Mrs. Mary Barry, math teacher and committee member for the benefit.
Proceeds will be used to help the family purchase medical equipment to accommodate their needs.
Despite the challenges the Flynn family has faced, they are still fighting through and are thankful for everyone at Marist High School.
“They have an amazing outlook, an amazing attitude. Molly is a fighter and her kids have been amazing through all of this… It’s been a huge outpouring of support from the Marist community and the family is so grateful,” said Barry.
Marist varsity girls basketball hosted a fundraiser for ALS at their game on Saturday, January 11 and raised more than $6,000.
Tickets to the benefit are available at www.MollysALSmiracle.com.
