Students who take the bus are stuck wasting a lot of time that could be eliminated with a faster, more effective bus route. The bus route should be changed so the last two stops are dropped off first instead of last.
The current bus route leaves Marist at 3:00 p.m. every day. From Marist, it goes to Bridgeport Catholic Academy, to 18th and Indiana, then to St. Daniel the Prophet, and finally to St. Symphorosa. This route results in many students being sitting on the bus for close to two hours daily.
MHS Media conducted a poll that shows the majority, 47.8%, think the route should go St. Symphorosa- St. Daniel the Prophet- BCA- 18th and Indiana. I couldn’t agree more. If the route was changed, students currently waiting for the last two stops would have more time to complete daily activities.
In a more logical manner, having the last two stops be dropped off first makes the most sense because we would be moving with the flow of traffic. Trying to go the opposite way of rush hour traffic makes things harder.
Most of the people on the last two stops of the bus have sports practice along with hours of homework to complete, and with the route going against traffic, making the time longer, it takes away time for these students to get everything completed.
The route being changed makes it fair for both students and the driver. The longer it takes for students to get home from the bus means it takes the bus driver even more time to get home to their families. The bus drivers has to deal with sitting in even more traffic to bring the bus back to where they pick it up from.
I feel that if the route was changed it would make a lot of people not only happier but less stressed about being unable to do everything that is necessary in their day to day life.
