Students in Journalism 2 and Broadcasting 2 classes went on a field trip to the WGN 9 TV studios on Friday, December 6.
The students were able to watch a live newscast and talk show while engaging with the anchors and staff. Tonya Francisco, a co-host of Daytime Chicago, answered questions and gave the students insight and advice about the news industry.
“It gave me more thought to what I want to do in my future for journalism, and it was pretty cool to see what went on in the news studio behind the scenes,” said sophomore and Journalism 2 student, Aliyah Glass.
After the students watched Daytime Chicago live from the studio, they went on a tour of the control room and production floor for the network channel, News Nation Live, which is located above the studios of WGN.
Marist students also got a quick shoutout from Patrick Elwood, a co-anchor for WGN Midday News, live on television.
