Juno is a movie I could watch over and over. This movie had me laughing and crying throughout the entire film. This movie is smart, funny, and filled with personality.
It’s safe to say that there are many relatable emotions in this movie regarding romance, family, and important decisions in life. It’s a film I believe anyone can love.
This movie has some inappropriate language, sexual scenes, and harsh topics for a younger audience. I would say that this movie would be directed toward a late teen or an adult audience.
Juno can be streamed from services such as Hulu, and Disney plus.
When Juno Macguff, 16, (Elliot Page) and her boy best friend (Micheal Cera) decide to have sex, she gets pregnant. After a trip to the abortion clinic left her feeling sick, her friend Leah advises Juno she should consider looking for adoption ads in the Pennysaver. After she believes she had found the “perfect family,” Juno and Leah decide to inform her parents. After an uncomfortable discussion, Juno’s dad goes with her to meet her child’s soon to be adoptive parents.
They then meet Vanessa (Jennifer Garner) and Mark (Jason Bateman). Vanessa is overjoyed to have a child, and Mark is still very immature, with a dream to be a rockstar. Throughout every conflict in this movie I learned to understand and love each character, and their struggles with the situation.
One thing I didn’t like about this movie was how Juno and Mark’s relationship was portrayed as uncomfortable and inappropriate, showing how he seeks validation from Juno. Because of his immaturity, and her young age, they become fast friends when Mark was soon to be adopting Juno’s child.
The setting of this movie takes place in Elk River, Minnesota. I enjoyed how this movie was set here because throughout Juno’s pregnancy, and everything she goes through with her peers, her family and friends, the changing seasons are an interesting backdrop.
Page stars in many movies, but I think this performance in Juno is my favorite. I love how well he and all the actors in the film worked together. Cera was also a great choice for this movie.
On a scale of 1-5, I give this movie 4 RedHawks. It’s something I would watch again.
