Stand By Me is the one movie I fell in love with instantly. This movie had me laughing and sobbing all at once. When I watch it, I am transported to my own little world each and every time.
This movie is found on Netflix, along with many other platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime, and Fandango. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone looking for a good classic to watch.
This is an R-rated movie, which means you must be 17 or older or watch it with an adult. There is foul language, inappropriate scenes, alcohol and substance use, and violence. This movie is one hour and 29 minutes long. However, it never gets boring, making you want to watch it again.
Set in the late 1950’s, about four misunderstood best friends, Chris Chambers (the late River Phoenix), Geordie Lachance (Wil Wheaton), Teddy Duchamp (Corey Feldman), and Vern Tessio (Jerry O’Connell), who are all from a small town in Oregon. A young boy about their age has gone missing and is believed to be dead. They decide to go on a trip down the train tracks to find the dead body. When looking for the dead body, they run into unexpected obstacles causing stronger bonds between them. However as life goes on, things change and so do they.
Stand By Me has everything you would want: adventure, comedy, emotion, friendship, life lessons, and rivalry. The storyline makes you feel like you’re right there with them searching for the boy’s body.
The movie has an outstanding soundtrack. I feel the soundtrack really added to the movie in hundreds of ways. The soundtrack consists of songs from a range of 1950’s to 1962 classics.
The casting for this movie was excellent. In addition to the previously mentioned stars, the Stand By Me cast included Kiefer Sutherland, Bradley Gregg along with many others. For most of these actors, Stand By Me was their breakthrough movie. Phoenix, Wheaton, Feldman, and O’Connell’s acting was amazing, given they were so young during the production of this film.
There is not one part of the movie that I love more than any other. Everything about this cast and movie makes it my all time favorite.
On a scale of 1-5 I would rate it 5 RedHawks. Stand By Me has been my comfort movie since I first watched it. It’s a movie I will forever and always recommend to others. I believe everyone must watch it at least once in their life.
