Anyone but You takes its audience on a deep dive into a whirlwind of romance, feud, and comedy. I could watch this movie 100 times and never get bored. Even with some suggestive content, it’s a fan favorite!
Fun Fact: Anyone but You is actually based off of Shakespeare’s infamous Much Ado About Nothing.
This is a rated-R movie, meaning, you must have parental supervision to watch if under 17. This movie contains foul language, sexual content, substance, and brief graphic nudity. The movie plays for about an hour and 43 minutes.
Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) encounter each other for the first time in a crowded coffee shop. They instantly hit it off and decide to meet up later that night. The night went well but after pivotal events the next morning, their relationship quickly turned sour. Six months later, they unexpectedly cross paths at a dreamy Australia-based wedding. As the wedding nears, the tension builds.
I believe the cast was chosen perfectly. The cast also includes Charlee Fraser, Darren Barnet, Alexandra Shipp, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Joe Davidson, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Lance Kerfuffle, GaTa, and many other talented actors. For most of these actors and actresses, Anyone but You was the role that pushed them to fame.
One of my favorite parts of this movie was the impeccable soundtrack. With songs like The Spins (Mac Miller), Photo ID (Remi Wolf, Dominic Fike), Got Me Started (Troye Sivan), and many others. The movie caused a major resurgence of Unwritten by Natasha Bedingfield. The song was released, in the United States, during late 2005. The movie released in December of 2023. Today, the song can now be heard on many music stations across America.
Anyone but You checks all of the boxes. Comedy? Check. Childish humor? Check. Cast Chemistry? Check. Romance? Check!
You can stream Anyone but You on Netflix, YouTube, Google Play, Fandango at home, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video. I would recommend watching on Netflix for an ad free experience.
It has a funny and friendly nature to it that makes the movie almost impossible to hate. On a scale of 1-5 RedHawks, I would rate this film 5 RedHawks.
