Marist High School hosted their annual open house for interested students and families on Sunday, October 27. This event provides the opportunity to see Marist beyond the obvious to discover what Marist has to offer.
“I think a lot of parents do not realize how much we invest into our facilities at Marist, because a lot of parents don’t make it past the gyms or football fields so they’ve never really seen inside our school so this event gives them a chance to see what Marist is actually like,” said Erica Harris, Marist Admissions Coordinator.
Marist had at least 350 families come to the open house and possibly many more since not all of the visitors signed a card on the way out of the event. This event was a huge success and many families left with a good impression.
“When parents saw our anatomy lab, forensics lab , the interactive board or the dome, they were very impressed. The science wing was all around a hit,” said Coach Chimino, who also works in the admissions department.
Marist High School also offers student-led tours during the open house.
“They seemed to really love seeing what Marist has to offer led by the students who come here,” said Harris.
Marist has 250 student ambassadors, who had close to 100 percent attendance. In addition to tours, they also helped out at club tables.
The tours lasted around 30 minutes long. They all followed the same route, showing classrooms in action, as well as giving opportunities to talk to school leadership.
“Families also appreciated and felt important that they were able to talk to leadership like Principal Mrs.Dunneback and Mr.Tucker,” said Chimino.
Future RedHawk families left very impressed with everything Marist had to offer and how inclusive the school is. It seems there’s something to meet every student’s interests and academic needs.
“The open house was overall a huge success,” said Chimino
