This school year begins with a clear intention to develop or foster a love of work.
For the past three years, Marist Principal Meg Dunneback and Marist President Larry Tucker carefully chose one of the five Marist pillars to focus on for the school year.
The five Marist pillars are a set of principles for all students, faculty, and staff to follow and strive to uphold. They are a way to engage the Marist community and work together towards one goal.
Last year, the focus was on the pillar of presence, where students learned to be mindful and present in all aspects at Marist.
“The definition of love of work is being generous of heart, constant, and preserving in our daily work,” says Dunneback.
To Dunneback, love of work is being passionate and graceful with your role at Marist, whether that be student or teacher. She believes that love of work is when students are truly spirited to show up and have passion for learning.
“The Marist pillars are supposed to be something the students and teachers follow, something you constantly say and constantly do,” says junior Aubrey Rowe.
To Marist students, love of work is not just background noise, but rather a concept to truly get the best results out of their efforts.
Starting off the school year, students are focusing on learning to become passionate not only about their work but united by the same goal, growing in love towards each other in the Marist community.
