Students can now use the newly renovated ARC not only for studying and staying cool, but to play games with friends and receive college and career advice.
Over the summer break, crews repainted the ARC, rearranged furniture, and added new and improved lights.
While the look of the ARC has already changed significantly, more renovations are planned. Later this year students will see new desks, comfy chairs, new decor, and taller bookshelves.
“The look and feel [of the ARC] will just be brighter and just more inviting,” said librarian Mrs. Kristen Rademacher.
Appearance aside, the ARC will provide the same services and more.
“It’s the best place to come if you have questions about things, need help, resources, tutoring, and we can get you to the right spot,” said Rademacher.
Upperclassmen will now be able to meet with their college counselors in the new College and Career Center, located in the back of the ARC. However, if a student would like an individual meeting with a college counselor it’s not an open-door policy.
“You will have to make an appointment just like you would with your everyday counselors. There is a QR code on the door,” said college counselor Mrs. Nicole Peterson. Appointments are not mandatory if you have any urgent questions.
“Students are allowed to drop in during lunch periods with an ARC pass and during their study halls once their teacher takes attendance,” said Peterson.
“We are still offering all the same things we offered in the past, but now we have a new games collection students can use if they need a mental break or just want to hang out with friends,” said Rademacher. “The shelves for the books will finally be high school height, instead of kindergarten height. So I’m really looking forward to everyone not having to sit on the floor.”
The ARC remains open during the renovations from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
