Marist Students Spend Day Off Giving Back

Marist students mixing ingredients to make meatballs for the homeless

Marist Youth and the SADD club served meals to the homeless on MLK Day at Alive Church in Oak Lawn. Mr. Brennan led a group of 40 students which was a mix of all year levels. The students cooked the food in the cafeteria here at Marist and then delivered it to the church where the less fortunate were served later that evening.

“We just wanted to help folks, Marist has a culture of service. We felt it would be a good way to serve some people,” said Brennan.

Brennan expressed that these experiences can be beneficial because it sheds a light on how fortunate Marist students are to be able to help others.

“We all learned how fortunate we are to have the things we have and be blessed the way we are,” he said.

My name is Trinity Eadie, and I’m a senior here at Marist. I was in journalism 1 and journalism 2, so I’ve been writing for a while. Now I contribute to MHS Media through the club. I like to read books in all genres. I like to make creative writing stories for fun. I enjoy watching horror movies and 90’s sitcoms. I like listening to music by the band Her's. Cassidy Cage, Journalism and Media 2 Writer

My name is Cassidy Cage and I’m in the class of 2026. This is my second year in journalism. I’m a student-athlete at Marist and I play volleyball and softball. My favorite place to travel to would be Florida because I love all the amusement parks and beaches! This year, I’m looking forward to writing about all sorts of things and I can’t wait for you guys to see all my work!

Faye Bouck, Journalism and Media 2 Writer

My name is Faye Bouck and I am a sophomore here at Marist. I play lacrosse for Marist and cheer for Mount Carmel. When I am at home I love to go for walks with my dog and watch One Tree Hill. My favorite thing to do when I am bored is go out with my friends or go to Swallow Cliff!

Vincent Quiroz, Broadcasting 1

I went to St. Barnabas and I’m a junior in my first year of broadcasting. I have also taken journalism 1 and 2. I play baseball here at Marist. My favorite thing to do is watch the Cubs. I’m excited to try something new!

Drew Blackburn, Journalism and Media 2 Writer

Hi, my name is Drew Blackburn. I am currently a junior here at Marist. This year I hope to make the varisty lacrosse team and dean’s list. I enjoy watching Gilmore Girls and going out to eat with my friends. In journalism, I hope to improve my writing skills and be able to minor in journalism.
