The 2030 graduating class kicked off their freshman year on Tuesday August, 18. Faculty, staff, and student ambassadors applauded as new Rowdies entered the building for the 2026-27 school year. While a new campus and routine marks a significant change, initial reactions have been positive.
“It’s been very different based on elementary school,” said freshman Timmy Daly. “It’s been a very steep change, but besides that, it’s going good.”
Although sometimes fearful, branching out and making new friends seems to be the biggest highlight.
“Being social at Marist helped build relationships with new friends that I would never imagine,” said freshmen Ethan Solis.
The new students had two days of orientation to get acquainted with their new school before they were joined by the entire student body. The orientation days also included a club fair introducing them to many activities offered outside of the classrooms.
Some teachers picked up on the energy within the class of 2030.
“I think the freshmen are off to a good start. They ask questions, slow down if I’m going too fast,” said math teacher Julie Oberwise.
